An EMDR intensive is the same careful trauma work done in weekly therapy — preparation, processing, integration — held in a condensed format: extended sessions over one or several consecutive days, instead of fifty minutes at a time spread across months.
Who intensives are for
- You have a specific memory, theme, or pattern you want to work through, and weekly sessions keep running out of road just as the work deepens.
- Your schedule — travel, demanding work, distance — makes a weekly rhythm impractical.
- You have done therapy before and understand your patterns; you want to work at the level beneath insight.
- You can protect the days around the intensive for rest and integration.
Screening comes first
Not everyone is a fit for an intensive, and the pace is never set by a calendar. Every intensive begins with the complimentary 30-minute video consultation, followed by a full assessment of your history, current stability, supports, and goals. If an intensive is not the right format right now, we will say so — and map the steadier path instead.
How an intensive is structured
- Preparation. One or more sessions before the intensive day(s) to build regulation skills and internal resources, and to choose targets together.
- The intensive. Extended processing sessions (three-hour minimum), paced to your nervous system, with breaks and resourcing built in. Half-day, full-day, and multi-day formats are available.
- Integration. A follow-up session after the intensive to consolidate what shifted and plan how the changes live in your daily life.
Preparing
We will plan the practical side together: clearing your schedule, arranging support at home, protecting sleep, and keeping the days after the intensive light. Intensives ask a lot of a nervous system; preparation is how the work stays safe and holds.
Aftercare and coordination
Integration is part of the package, not an afterthought. With your written consent, we can also coordinate with your existing therapist or other providers, so the work continues coherently after the intensive ends.
Pricing
Intensives are priced as a complete package — preparation, processing, and integration together — confirmed in writing before you schedule, once we have chosen the right format at your consultation. Packages begin at $900 for a three-hour intensive; full-day and multi-day formats are quoted as complete packages. HSA/FSA accepted; superbills provided for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
